Base Schedule Overview

The objective of this feature is to guide the effective development of Base Schedules for nursing scheduling units. A scheduling unit is typically a nursing department or subset of that department, that has a work schedule for its clinical staff. A Base Schedule is the weekly scheduling template, or starting point for schedule development. It specifies by day of week (Sunday through Saturday), and shift, the ‘typical’ number of staff that should be scheduled, understanding that the scheduler will change the amount as needed when creating actual schedules. The target users will be Nursing Operations executives or Nursing Departmental managers/directors. There may also be clinical workforce planners within a Nursing Operations team as users.
